Aluminized Wire

Aluminized Wire is steel that has been hot-dip coated on both sides with aluminium-siliconalloy. This process assures a tight metallurgical bond between the steel sheet and its aluminium coating, producing a material with a unique combination of properties possessed neither by steel nor by aluminium alone. Aluminized steel shows a better behavior against corrosion and keeps the properties of the base material steel for temperature lower than 800 °C (1,470 °F). For example, it is commonly used for heat exchangers in residential furnaces, commercial rooftop HVAC units, automotive mufflers, ovens, kitchen ranges, water heaters, fireplaces, barbecue burners, and baking pans.

Cutting Lance has many uses in industry for both dry and wet applications alike, such as cutting steel bracings on offshore structures, pipelines, removing jetty and pier foundations, cutting through concrete caissons, vessels, propellers and other types of marine salvage. Each lance is constructed from a copper coated seamless steel tube 9.5mm (3/8") OD x 450mm (18") long. The tubes are all fitted with high visibility polyolefin tubing for easy use and improved safety. All underwater Cutting Lances are packed to prevent oil and grease contamination. The process simply requires an industry standard underwater cutting torch connected to a multistage high flow oxygen regulator, a DC welding machine and a safety isolation switch. Should you prefer to cut with the power on, the lance should require no more than ~150 amps at the tip. However, the lance will also burn with no electrical power, once ignited, as long as the oxygen flow is maintained. The lance burns at approximately 4000°C a temperature that will melt most materials with ease. The principle of operation, having ignited the arc is to allow oxygen to flow down through the centre of the lance. This creates and maintains an exothermic reaction, which will continue to burn, with or without the power, until the oxygen flow is stopped.
